Blockwork begins on May 14-15 2004
After a rather nasty snafu by the block company, we finally got the correct blocks delivered. We lost almost a
day of work, but thanks to having Carol's dad & brother running this part of the project, we managed to get
back on track. Richard is a retired bricklayer from Local 1 in the Detroit area and Carol's brother Ken has
labored for Richard on many jobs in the past, and we are so grateful to be able to tap into this wealth of
experience and to know the job will be done right. They drove all the way from suburban Detroit and stayed
the weekend in Muskegon. Carol knows how to do the finish work, but she needs lots more experience
laying the block! John being the eager learner, picked up fairly quickly how block gets laid and finished.

Side note from Carol: Thank you Dad for "coming out of retirement" and allowing me to work with
you, Ken your help is priceless. THANK YOU!!!!!!

We got the whole back wall in and a
portion of the west wall finished
during this weekend. It was amazing
watching the change in appearance
of the building. Roughly 400 block
was laid this weekend.....heck only
700 more to go!! Yikes!
John & Carol are the crew now...
