In loving memory of our permanent rescue Mals that have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. They will run free in their silver harnesses until we meet with them in Heaven. Godspeed...........

Sheila
1990 - May 11, 2004

Sheila is the Malamute that brought Shirley & Carol together. Please click on her picture to learn her story.

Tucker
?? - December 16, 2002

Tucker was the 1st permanent resident.( This was about a year prior to Golden Years) Tucker was found running with a pack in a landfill in Ohio. Shirley found out about Tucker and arrangements were made to fly him to Michigan to join the Thomas household. He loved to hoard his toys in his doghouse and appeared to take "inventory" everyday. His favorite toy was a yellow & purple turtle. He was doing well until fall of 2002 when he started having trouble with his back end. On December 16th he was totally paralyzed in back. The time had come to say goodbye. Shirley held him as he quietly left this world. Godspeed Tucker......

Toby
December 11 1989 - July 2 2001

Toby came to us in January 2001 all the way from California, a very scared and confused boy. Within a few days he settled in and the "snowdancers" at the Rainbow Bridge thought he should see snow for the first time. He wasn't quite sure what to do, but soon he was playing and it was sheer joy to watch. We treasure that memory of you. We didn't have him very long but he was such a joy to have.

Sir Alexander Bear ( Bear)

Bear came to us from Ohio in April of 2001. What was thought to be a sliver in his mouth turned out to be an aggressive cancer. We found a perfect foster home for Bear, where he lived out his days lounging on the couch watching Animal Planet. He lived just 8 short weeks in the foster home and he is deeply missed.

King
??? - February 2, 2007

King came to us in the winter of 2004 a poor, scared dog who appeared to have been through some rough times. Over time he became a very happy dog and enjoyed living at his foster home. Click on his picture to learn more about this special guy.

Nanook
??? - May 11, 2007

Nook was one of our first rescue dogs back in the fall of 2000. She ended up being adopted by Shirley & John. Click on her picture to learn about this beautiful sable girl. She went to the Bridge exactly 3 years after our beloved Sheila.

Baja
Oct 25, 1994 - June 16, 2007

Like Nanook, Baja came to our rescue in the fall of 2000 as an owner surrender. As it would turn out he would spend 5 of the next 6 years living with us at Golden Years. Please click on his picture to learn more about this very special boy.

Joshua
13+ years old

This poor old boy was sitting in the Sanilac animal shelter and his time was nearly up. He had no name and no family. Click on his picture for his story.

Sugar
1998 - August 31 2008

Sugar entered the rescue system in early 2007 and she finally came to Golden Years in late 2007. She was a huge dog, not fat just all over large. Sugar had a wonderful personality and we hoped she would soon find a home. Sadly she left us in her sleep. Click on her picture to learn more about her.

Kokomo
1999 - June 28 2009

Koko was in the rescue system for several years before she came to us. She loved people but was terribly aggressive towards other dogs. We knew this would make placing her a challenge. She became classified as a permanent resident in Jan of 2009. Click on her picture to learn more about Koko.

Toemeeka
1996 - June 28 2009

Meekers finally lost her battle with cancer and old age. She had a huge heart and loved being around people. Click on her picture to learn more about our Miss Meekers.
