Mission Statement

1. Education
To educate potential and current adopter owners and breeders
To help make available, information on the breed's history and temperament
To help owners make appropriate decisions about housing and training
2. Service
To take in Alaskan Malamutes (space available) who have no other place to go
and place them in permanent homes
To serve as an adoption referral for any other Alaskan Malamute
3. Evaluation
To make a temperament evaluation on each dog, and to place the dog in a home
suited to his/her temperament
To see that all dogs are adopted sterilized, and to ask Adoption Referrals to do the
same
To provide each dog with a veterinarian exam, heartworm test, rabies vaccination,
annual booster vaccinations and deworming
To provide each dog with healthy food
To introduce each dog to indoor living
To crate train each dog for eating and sleeping
To (try to) socialize each dog to male and female dogs, children and cats
To introduce each dog to grooming, bathing, teeth checking, toenail clipping and
ear cleaning
4. Adoption
To place each dog in a permanent home
To screen carefully for dog experience, especially energetic, double coated, stubborn
and highly intelligent dog experience
To place dogs in fenced yards or as full time house dogs
To provide the new home with the dog's vet's name and phone number for ease of
record transfer
To match adopters with dogs, whether it is a dog from our program or another
To get and check vet references from potential adopters
To follow up with the adoptive home to make sure the adoption is working out
To ALWAYS take back any dog that goes out on our contract
