News & Information
Buddy, the Mal in our logo passed
away in June 2004 of kidney failure.
His family misses him very much.
We learned of his passing a month
after we helped Sheila over the
Rainbow Bridge. These two dogs will
live on in our memories as well as
the new building and all of our logo
items.
The Kuranda bed donation opportunity was a huge success for us. We now
have 10 beautiful new beds that will keep the dogs off the floor and they can
snooze in comfort. A HUGE Thank You to everyone who donated a bed(s).
Recently we were contacted by Mr Robert Ross from Muskegon Community College
to see if we could be of mutual benefit to each other (he is the Director for the
Upward Bound program there).

The program helps low income students realize their dream of attending college. By
attending classes and doing hours of community service, this program helps the kids
further their education. Since we are a non-profit we fit the criteria for the
community service part.

Shirley has been single handedly maintaining the kennels as she attends college full
time herself. Needless to say she has been quite overwhelmed especially during our
long snowy winter.

On March 8th Mr Ross and three young ladies came out to help dig out the outdoor
kennel runs so they could be properly cleaned. There was so much snow coming off
the roof that the doggie doors were half buried which meant the dogs could not get
outside. Made for heavy duty cleaning inside the building!

We'd like to thank Mr Ross, Nathania Kirby-Owens, Shatoya Wilson and Tekegha
Longmire for coming out to help break up some of the snow so we could see cement
again. We are really looking forward to having the kids come out to help. They get
their community service hours and we get some much needed help and the dogs can
get lots of attention!
