At last! Miss Nahla has her forever home and even has a big mallie housemate. Nahla came to us over 2 years ago having just had a little of puppies under a house in Texas. Naturally her puppies placed quickly but poor Nahla just waited, and waited. She's quite the escape artist so that was not working in her favor. Then the adoption application came in. They'd has 15 mallies over the years and had a big boy right now. Just the home Miss Nahla was waiting for! She moved to Lenox MI on Sept 7. Good things come to those who wait.
Our beautiful girl Iris was with us for a long time and we weren't sure why. Well it's because her new family hadn't found her yet. Iris moved to Warren IN on 7-20-24 and we know she's now going to live the best life ever
Miss Yuna was with us for quite awhile but we knew her new owner just had to find her on our website first. And as you can see....she did!! Yuna now has a new buddy to hang out with. Yes Tonka really is that huge...Yuna is one third his size but she was around a lot of big wooly boys at her foster home so she was used to playing with the big guys. Yuna moved to Hastings MI on April 25, 2024 and we look forward to updates from the new pack.
Taqua had been with FSFH for nearly a year. We splashed his handsome face all over the internet in the hopes someone would fall in love with his face. Like Axel and Rugar someone did, right in Grand Rapids. His new dad has big plans for Taqua: Hiking, camping, swimming. pulling and skijoring which is exactly the type of home this three year old boy needed. Taqua moved to Grand Rapids MI on 4-4-24 and he even rocked his bunny ears (briefly)
Axel and Rugar had been with FSFH for almost three years but we knew someone out there would see them and sure enough they did! Even better they wanted to adopt them together! The boys moved to Milford MI on 4-5-24 and even sat long enough to show off their Easter ears.
Like shelters everywhere, we have not had any adoptions for quite some time. Been a rough year for malamutes everywhere. Then, it was nearly Christmas and we hoped Santa would deliver some adopters our way. Well, he did just that!. Ponchi (now Alvin) went to his new home in Munising in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Moved the day after Christmas 2023 and all of the reports have been wonderful! His new home has been in Malamutes for over 35 years so he's not getting away with much.
Juneau found a home before we even got the chance to post him on PetFinder! A gentleman called and was asking about dogs and it sounded like Juneau would be the perfect match. Juneau moved to Niles MI on April 15 2023. He's out carting, swimming, playing ever since moving in.
Koda is one lucky boy. He found a home even before we put him up as available! We did post some pictures on the Golden Years Facebook page and a quick story about Koda. The same day a gentleman found our group and posted he just just lost his 13 year old girl and was looking for a new travel buddy that was laid back and friendly. He saw the post about Koda and inquired as to how to apply for him. The application was approved and once Koda had healed from his neuter surgery his new dad picked him up in his motor home and Koda was on his new adventure and new home base of Arizona 12/1/22
Our sweet Aurora was with us for two years and we thought she'd never find a new home. Little did we know there was something happening in Denver that would include her. A family in Denver CO was getting ready to move to Grand Rapids MI so they checked Malamute sites to see if any were available. They noticed that Aurora was staying up as available for quite a long time. Summer 2022 the family relocated and while settling in they checked again and sure enough there was Aurora. They submitted an application and drove up to Gladwin to meet her. Love at first sight all the way around. Aurora officially moved to Grand Rapids MI on 10-29-22. She's like a whole new dog! Calm, playful, is now the neighborhood dog and she gets to go places. Drastic change from our crazy girl to a calm and happy dog. Aurora lived at a puppy mill from birth to age four so this adoption was very special to us.
Kosi was with us for quite a long time and we never quite understood why because he was an awesome boy. Well it turns out he was just waiting for his new dad to find our website! Kosi moved to Spring Lake MI 10-29-22 and settled right in to his new home
Once in awhile we get in a Malamute that just a gem. Ponyo was only with us for a short time thanks to his temperament. He's good with almost everyone and everything. Ponyo moved to his new home in MI on 9-24-22 and has made many new doggie and people friends.

Mia came to us a couple of months ago and we thought for sure she would place right away as she was good with others dogs, kids and people in general but we didn't get any inquiries. Well there was a reason. Her people hadn't found her yet but when they did it was love at first sight all around. She moved to her new home in MI on 3/15/22

Well Lobo had quite the adventure. He came to us all the way from Texas, was fostered in West Michigan and then moved to Sevens Point WI with another of our rescue dogs, Rocky. Both boys are getting along fabulously and we are so thrilled they are in a fantastic new home! They moved to WI on 3/12/22
We knew Pax would probably find a home quick with his personality and gorgeous face. We had him about two weeks when we
were contacted by a family from IN. They had just lost their mal and were doing a search for a new family member. Timing couldn't
have been more perfect. We are happy to share that Pax joined his new family on 6-13-2021.
Shadow is a beautiful Malamute/Siberian mix who was surrendered to animal control and when we first met him we couldn't understand why. He's good with other dogs, loves people, loves going for rides and just plain having fun. He's only a year old with tons of puppy energy so we suspect the original owners had no idea how to handle a northern breed. Shadow found his perfect family and moved to his new home in south east MI on 7-10-2021.
Our handsome boy Bandit found his perfect forever home. He's a typical young boy who likes to test to see what he can get
away with. His new family has tons of experience with the breed. Bandit moved to his new home in Birmingham MI on
7-18-21 and he's doing fantastic.
Esko was found tied up in an abandoned home and we took him in. He was being fostered at our kennel in Gladwin MI and because it was going to take a few months to get him in to local vet to be neutered, he was transported to our foster home in Grand Rapids MI 2 1/2 hours drive away, so he could have the surgery sooner. At the same time someone in Grand Rapids saw him on our site and applied. Who knew Esko was meant to see the Grand Rapids vet and then just get to a new home! He even has a Sibe sister named Sierra to play with. Lots of smiles all around. Esko moved in on 10-3-21
Thor (was Tikkani) Found a new forever home really quickly. Who could resist that face! He moved to Indiana on 10-8-21 and by that "woo
woo" on his face he's pretty darned happy! He even went out trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Lola only spent a few days with us before she found the perfect forever home. The family had just said their final goodbye to their beloved boy Kiba (Kiba was part of a litter born at Golden Years in 2007. Within days of their loss they saw our post about Lola. Well we all know that Kiba picked out his successor, Lola!) She moved to her new forever home in Michigan on 10-26-21
Eisa was with us for a bit as she had to get spayed and all current with shots. She came in with Renji (same owner). Once she got settled in with her foster pack her personality shined through. Eisa found her new forever home on 11/6/21
It took a little time but River was just waiting for this couple to come and meet her. River showed them what a sweetie she is and Hooray! River got a fabulous new home just in time for Christmas! River moved to Bay City MI on 12/18/21
It took a little while but this very handsome boy named Renji found his fabulous new forever home. He will now be the only dog and we are quite sure he will be spoiled rotten. Renji moved to Grand Rapids MI on 1/26/2022
