Meet Sierra
Sierra is a gorgeous 10 year old female looking for a new forever home. Her owner remarried (he had Sierra from puppyhood) and the new spouse has a small dog and the new human and small dog don’t like Sierra. After being stuck in a crate for 10 hours a day for a year, a family member finally convinced Sierra’s owner to let them take Sierra and find her the home she so richly deserves.
Sierra is a big girl at about 80 lbs and she is easy going with everyone she meets. She’s good with children and loves to play with her squeaky toys (like any self respecting malamute she loves to de-stuff them). At her age she has a bit of arthritis so she doesn’t do zoomies anymore, avoids the stairs and doesn’t jump on people. She is taking meds for her thyroid (meds are inexpensive and this is not an unusual health issue in Mals). She is due for her shots and bloodwork and has an appointment with her vet later this month to get everything current for her next owner.
As you can see in one of her pictures she actually likes grooming! Her new home will need to make Sierra an active part of the family, being allowed to play, go for walks, go for car rides, see new places, and give her lots of attention. She’d do great in a home with retired owner(s) , one with kids age 7+, or perhaps someone who works from home.
Sierra is being fostered in Ft Wayne IN and her adoption will be strictly handled by the foster home. Golden Years is just doing this courtesy listing and assumes no legal liability in the placement of Sierra
You can reach Holly, her foster mom, via text or phone at 260-494-6215
